Welcome Friends, Romans and Countrymen
LEND ME YOUR EARS
Ok, they’re really not musings, contemplations or anything
like that, but every now and then I have the opportunity to do some thinking
and sometimes I write my thoughts down.
I want to tell any reader of this writing what it is, and
what it is not. That seems to be thing that I need to do.
What it is:
Idle ramblings, incoherent thinking, bad grammar,
misspellings, lightheartedness, some serious reflection, not so serious
reflection, sleep walking, ghost writing, name calling, finger pointing, finger
painting, climbing to the summit of Mt. Everest, going into the Marianas
Trench, chasing theory, casting aside all doubt, doubting Thomas, walking on
the moon, a trip to Disneyland, sunbathing on a tanning bed, learning how to
ride a bicycle, carving a pumpkin, doing laundry, ironing underwear, heart
palpitations, a good pizza, a great date, a fast car, a comfy chair, a Magic 8
Ball telling me what to do, Rock Paper Scissors, a warm bagel.
What it is not:
Recipes, doctrine, stereo headphones, a video game, a John
Philip Sousa march, a tent revival, a cozy campfire on the beach at sunset,
free tickets to a concert, clear thinking, public opinion poll, an attempt at
diversity, a way to include apples with oranges, a mind dump, a BFF necklace,
fancy perfume, a good fishing trip, a gorgeous sunset, salt and pepper, sugar
and spice and everything nice, sleeping under a darkened sky in a warm sleeping
bag, a trip to Disney World, winning the lottery, playing catch with your dog,
warm and fuzzy feelings, tomato soup with macaroni noodles and a grilled cheese
sandwich, pot luck dinner, roshambo, kissing a beautiful person, going to the
gym and feeling good, skydiving or snorkeling, finding a gold coin or anything
else.
Now that we’ve had a meeting of the minds, if you think of
anything else, of what it is or what it is not, you can keep it to yourself.
Just don’t choose to be offended. Agree that we can disagree. Think of yourself
as being complete, and say, “I forgive you.”
Now that I consider you as friends, Romans, or countrymen,
my invitation is to all. My words are free and my questions are pointed. Enjoy
while you can and bless your soul; as that is one thing that my Grandma used to
say.
